Deep Docks is one of the early‐to‐mid game areas in Hollow Knight Silksong. This region offers unique challenges, along with new enemies, platforms, and items. Deep Docks is connected to other regions like Far Fields, Hunter’s March, and The Marrow. Progressing through this region can be challenging due to the lava room. Certain areas in Deep Docks are locked behind items or abilities.
Collecting what you can in Deep Docks makes later areas easier in the game. Crossing over lava, difficult jumps, and possibly doors that require keys can create resistance in your progression. Defeating the Lace Boss at the end of this region is essential to unlock Far Fields. In this guide, we’ll discuss how to progress in Deep Docks, including some tips and tricks to defeat the mini-boss.
Get Inside Deep Docks
You will begin at the bench that is just east of The Marrow Bellways or fast travel station. From there, we will have to move further east into the Marrow Zone. The first horizontal chamber has some platforming that involves spike pits and crumbling platforms. There is an upper area that can be reached in the second horizontal chamber.
This can be reached by diving off these bouncy red flowers. However, we can just take the bottom route to the vertical chamber. Once there, we can drop down a few levels and follow the sign east into a jail. There, we will find a free bench to rest at, which will serve as our next checkpoint. From here, we will need to move further down and then east, out of The Marrow and into a new region, Deep Docks.
Acquire the Deep Docks Map
Watch out for spike pits, falling rocks, and lava, as you make your way through this stretch. As you enter Deep Docks, you will see a sign pointing towards a bench. This bench requires Rosaries to unlock, and I found it a bit unnecessary, so I skipped unlocking it. Instead, I just continued east and followed the sound of Shakra’s singing to get the Deep Docks Map.
Unlock Swift Step Ability
To get the Swift Step ability, you will need to make our way up and to the east, through the major portion of Deep Docks. Your first mini destination will be an exit path at the northeast corner of this chamber. You will need to hit a lever to reach it.
In this next chamber, you will need to move east, jumping along the hot coal surfaces to avoid taking burn damage. At the far end of the chamber, you can hop up some rocks and strike an explosive charge to open up the path into the next chamber. There is another bench here that we can spend Rosaries to unlock.
There is a boss or rush encounter ahead, and it is worth buying this bench just in case. From the bench, you will need to move back west into the previous chamber, then go all the way up. After that, move to the east to reach a narrow corridor. Moving west will bring you to the boss chamber, where multiple waves of enemies will need to be defeated.
Once that is done, you can move west and drop down into a new chamber. Watch out for spike pits and strike the explosive rock at the southeast corner to unlock a shortcut back to the bench. Then, move to the southwest exit. With a few jumps, you can reach an altar and interact with it to unlock the Swift Step Ability.
Unlock the Swift Step in Hollow Knight Silksong to sprint and dash during combat.
Return to Lava Room
Pass through the large gaps to the left use Swift Step. Move up the platform by hitting the switch. Travel on the top into a small alcove to meet little critters. You need to move down to the base level, and pressing the switch allows you to open the door. Exit from the area after taking the elevator down. Locate the transport station after taking the door at the bottom left of this chamber. Move into the path at the bottom right after coming back to the lava room.
Find the Path to Lace Boss
Move down to the depths after turning on the switch. Use the elevator to move down and get your hands on the Shell Shards in the midway. Move to the left on the base floor and keep descending platforms. Be aware of the enemies that are more likely to explode on contact with you.
Move further down on the left and defeat all the guards in this chamber to gain Rosaries and Shell Shards. Make your way back to the elevator and enter the room at the end to encounter the mini-boss. Defeating this boss is easier if you use the right strategy.
Defeat Lace in Hollow Knight: Silksong
Eliminating the boss allows you to open a secret passage. Move to the top after opening each switch. Make your way all to the left and open the door. Going from these platforms will take you to the boss arena. Use the Swift Step ability to move to the above platform. Go the right path after flipping and then heading down. This mini-boss is not that hard to defeat due to its attack pattern.
- The boss has a multi-phase attack, and her attacks use both ground moves & projectile ones.
- Don’t stay on the ground too long when she starts doing tricky combos.
- Only go for damage during clear windows, so don’t try to be greedy.
- Keep in mind that trying to force extra hits often leads to punishment.
- Be careful when using your Bind. You can any skill to buy time to heal.
The boss will disappear after you defeat her. Create a bell of victory and unlock a new Bench after hitting the lever in the chamber next to you. After that, you can now freely enter Far Fields.
