Today has already been quite an eventful time hours before the PlayStation 5 showcase is set to take place later this afternoon. While nothing is certain to be shown regarding the properties that Sony will feature for the next-generation console, we do have some foundation to grasp regarding what is underway for today’s show. One being the tease from Dead Space 3 Writer Antony Johnston who tweeted and deleted his teases earlier this week.
Another comes from the Horizon Zero Dawn Composer Joris de Man who also tweeted recently framing his own excitement for today’s online event as well giving implication of a new announcement imminent for this afternoon. However, with these teases coming from individuals involved with the coming reveals, they are controlled from the team themselves, essentially.
But elsewhere in a now-deleted tweet from Bloomberg Tech reporter Jason Schreier, he shares that Insomniac Games will also be present to present its next game later today as well. Thanks to Twitter user @MrEevee98, we can still view the tweet after being deleted.
Schreier has a previous track record of continued accurate claims in the gaming industry in recent years. And following the swift deletion of the post, it is suspected he was instructed to remove his tweet in respect of the reveal taking place later in the afternoon. However, it is still unsure what exactly is inbound for today’s show.
Some would hope the announcement could be a sequel to Marvel’s Spider-Man, but seeing the game just shipped back in 2018, it does not seem likely that could be the case with little time to work on a follow-up so soon. Others go to elaborate on the hopes of a new Ratchet and Clank entry: the titular reboot that shipped in 2016 would give more breathing room to suspect a new title to be a likelier candidate.
It was reported back in August that Sony Interactive Entertainment acquired Insomniac Games. You can read the full report by heading here.
What do you hope to see from Insomniac Games for PlayStation 5?
The PlayStation 5 livestreamed show will take place today, June 11 at 1 PM PST / 4 PM EST.
