If you own an Xbox One and have long been frustrated by the download speeds achieved on your supposedly-high-speed home internet connection, the latest Xbox One OS update will definitely make your day better. Released on December 14, Xbox One OS version 10.0.14393.2152 brings with it the usual slew of stability- and performance-improvement remarks as well as one major bonus: download speed increases.
Those increases, according to the official release notes provided by Xbox, are courtesy of “optimizations to game and app downloads on Xbox One”. For a more statistical breakdown, if you’re a fan of those, the release notes mention (regarding customers with 100Mbps+ network speeds) an increase of up to 80% in download speed. Similarly, those customers with less than 100Mbps speeds will also get a boost, with up to a 40% increase in download speeds.
This update also includes some new bits so your Xbox should handle connection flickering better, specifically while downloading apps and games in the background. Regardless of your network speeds, this update brings some major improvements, so go check for the updated version number and get your game downloaded at higher speeds than before.
