Just over a year ago, Crystal Dynamics offered nostalgic fans Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered for the classic duology from its repertoire for the newest consoles. “While some elements have aged and the occasional bug dampens the experience, the remaster’s updates breathe fresh life into these classics. […] With its mix of timeless storytelling, engaging exploration, and thoughtful updates, this collection is well worth a look for both new and returning players,” our review reads.
At the PlayStation State of Play recently, it was revealed that Crystal Dynamics is also piecing together Legacy of Kain: Defiance Remastered with the release already set to come next month. You can watch the announcement trailer in the video below:
“For the first and only time in the original series, players take control of both iconic protagonists. Experience the story from opposing perspectives as Raziel and Kain’s intertwined destinies collide. Each character brings a distinct viewpoint and abilities that shape both the story and gameplay. This remaster preserves the soul of the original experience while refining visuals, controls, and camera design for modern audiences.”
Matt McCloskey, Legacy of Kain franchise general manager also shared: “For over 20 years, fans have kept the love and enthusiasm for Legacy of Kain alive—and we were even able to welcome members of that community onto our development team.” This is illustrated with the new remaster featuring a playable demo for the canceled ‘Legacy of Kain: Dark Prophecy’ as well as a digital comic that ties into the universe.
This is not the only legacy announcement to come out of the recent PlayStation showcase. Also at the presentation, Ubisoft & Digital Eclipse announced Rayman: 30th Anniversary Edition. You can read the full report by heading here.
