According to Gamespot that Konami confirms that their upcoming title Metal Gear Survival will need an constant internet connection along with having microtransactions ready for the game.
During a preview of the game, Gamespot has learned that the game will require you to be connected to the internet to play both multiplayer and even single player. Konami responded that it is required for a smooth transition between single player and multiplayer. Similar to many other games like needing the constant connection like EA’s Need For Speed (2015) and Ubisoft’s The Division (2016).
Included in the game preview as well is that there is a coin shop in Metal Gear Survival where players can exchange real money for in-game currency. With a list of Boost Passes that vary for the length of their duration. Microtransactions is common with Konami as they’ve been in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain since the game launched back in 2015, as of yet there’s no information on the price points for the game’s currency in terms of real currency.
The Metal Gear Survival Beta just started on January 18 and ends on January 22. As for how it looks isn’t too bright for Konami as the release for their title is only a month away. The first title in the franchise with Hideo Kojima’s absence and it’s clear that Konami isn’t planning on changing anytime soon from before.
