Live at New York Comic Con today, Bandai Namco announced a brand new Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers game for Xbox One and PS4. It’s called MMPR: Mega Battle and will release in January 2017.
To the surprise of everyone, Bandai Namco revealed the game with no pre-marketing or fanfare pretty much whatsoever. With the release of the upcoming film in March, which will have premiere coverage at NYCC live this Saturday with us in attendance, it’s kind of shocking. The game will use both solo and local co-op play according to Bandai, and will allow you to level up your Rangers for stronger individual and team up attacks.
The original six Rangers are all included, and others will be unlocked as you go. Voice lines from the first two seasons have been added in, including Rita’s famous “Magic Wand, make my monster…GROWWWWW!”. The game plays as a side scrolling brawler similar to the old Double Dragon and TMNT style arcade games. Zordon and Alpha are back, along with Goldar and even Lord Zed. We’ll bring you the full trailer of the upcoming movie this Saturday live from NYCC so be sure to stay tuned, and let us know what you think of this new game below. Besides it being awesome of course.
