Discover everything you need to know about the complete eggs list in Monster Hunter Stories 3, including how to hatch them.
Eggs are how you get your Monsties, the monsters that fight and travel with you in Monster Hunter Stories 3. Eggs are scattered around the world and are located inside the Monster Dens. Eggs are not optional, as they let you get a companion for combat and exploration. Each egg has a distinct pattern, indicating the monster type that you can get from hatching it.
Eggs Overview
Eggs in Monster Hunter Stories 3 are the crucial item to obtain from the monster dens. You don’t capture monsters directly, but you find their eggs and hatch them. The newly born monstie becomes your companion, helping you in exploration and combat. Eggs are located inside Monster Dens scattered across the map, and each den contains nests and random loot.

Grab these eggs and leave quickly before you encounter the monster. If you force an Invasive monster to retreat, it creates a den with that monster’s eggs. Some dens give better eggs, stronger monsters with better stats and abilities. Keep in mind that the eggs are not random blobs, as you can read them from their pattern before hatching.

Each egg in Monster Hunter Stories has a different pattern or genus. After progressing the game enough, you can identify the exact species more easily after hatching similar eggs. Eggs can be hatched at the Camp or Stables. The game allows you to hatch up to 12 eggs at once, letting the new monstie come out and be ready for battle.
How Egg Works in Monster Hunter Stories 3
Not all eggs in Monster Hunter Stories 3 are the same, as some are common, rare, and rainbow rarity. You automatically get the stronger monster if the egg is better. After hatching, you can release Monsties into regions to boost the Ecosystem. Higher ranks mean stronger monsters, better eggs, and new mutations in the wild.

An egg can also carry element-based effects and abilities, so a normal monster can get fire-related abilities. You can transfer abilities between Monsties after hatching them. However, this only happens when you align genes to create bingo bonuses for more effects. You may also feel that you’re hatching the monsters again and again. So, I recommend using the extra monsties to transfer skills or increase the ecosystem rank.

The gameplay loop is to find eggs, hatch them, increase the ecosystem, and get better eggs. This lets you get mutated monsters and rare species in Monster Hunter Stories 3.
Where To Find Monster Dens
Monster Dens continuously respawn and change locations, so you’ll keep finding new ones during exploration. You can see them as small cave entrances and colored dens. Sunpetal Plains and North Lake Loop are the best early egg farming routes, containing multiple dens and retreat dens.
You can also find the endgame eggs in the Mirror Lake and some dens in Blessing Hill and forest zones in Cantalta Timberland. Tarukan Region is a rocky terrain region, featuring higher-tier monsters and dens.

You can create your own den by forcing an Invasive Monster to retreat and get a dens with multiple eggs. I recommend looking for a cave opening in the wild to find the dens. You also get a notification from the game after reaching a den.
