Netflix’s The Witcher has shaped in interesting ways to say the least since airing Season 3 Vol 2 back in 2023. It was already revealed that Henry Cavill is to exit the production and be recasted by Liam Hemsworth (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire), the games itself found new footing. CD Projekt Red confirmed that work has already commenced on the next installment after closing development on Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty.
Additionally, the Polish game studio officially showcased The Witcher 4. Although Geralt of Rivia has been the starring protagonist for the original trilogy, the new title is to star Ciri instead for the first time. Elsewhere, CD Projekt Red did confirm that The Witcher 4 is way off from releasing. In one statement, it verified that the sequel won’t ship until at lease after 2026 at the earliest.
Now back on the matter of the television series, Netflix released the first teaser for The Witcher Season 4 and is releasing later this month. You can watch the teaser trailer in the video below:
“One of the things we always say is that it wouldn’t be The Witcher if everything ended happily,” showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich says speaking on the direction for The Witcher series. “This is the beginning of a two-season journey for our family to finally reunite and be together — hopefully forever.” Hissrich also confirms that The Witcher is still sitting on two more seasons to conclude its story.
“We also have this amazing opportunity, halfway through a series, to relaunch it — to say, ‘Things are different, we’re coming out of the gate with a bang, and it’s bigger and better than ever.’ […] Show up, be willing to be surprised, be willing to accept that things look different, and know that the core of what you love is still there,” she added.
