
While Netflix has slowly established itself to being a hub for successful video game adaptations with Castlevania proving to be a profitable vessel, things changed when The Witcher dropped. The show brought many success with Henry Cavill as the lead for general viewers and fans of the franchise. Even more, the series airing also revamped PC player count for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt at the time too.
Last December, Netflix aired Season 2 for the ongoing series with praise meeting similar response for the first season. Additionally, an animated film ‘The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf’ also hit Netflix in August before that. Even more, Netflix is reported to be working together a prequel mini-series in The Witcher universe which was said to take place an entire millennium before Geralt of Rivia.
Recently, Netflix aired the first trailer for The Witcher: Blood Origin and reveals the show’s release date for this coming Christmas. You can watch the teaser trailer in the video below:
“More than a thousand years before the events of ‘The Witcher,’ seven outcasts in an Elven world join forces in a quest against an all-powerful empire,” the brief overview for the show reads on Netflix’s website. Unlike the original story on the spin-off prequel, The Witcher: Blood Origin is now a four-part series rather than six episodes as initially reported.
In other news regarding the Netflix TV series, it was announced that Henry Cavill will be stepping down from the leading role after come season 4. In his place, Liam Hemsworth is said to be the replacement for Geralt of Rivia moving forward. You can read the full report by heading here.
