In the current state of the industry, remakes are all the rave right now as beloved franchises receive an entirely new engine to its frame. Looking at Square Enix, the Japanese publisher unlike other firms is still entertaining the idea of more remakes for its titles. Not that it hasn’t, looking at you Trials of Mana & Final Fantasy VII Remake, but that the company is behind its competitors.

Despite what is already done, Square Enix is looking to outsource for several new remakes altogether in the near future. That is indicated by a new deal arranged with Future Entertainment SA. The Polish firm is most recognized for its involvement with Panzer Dragoon Remake which arrived last year.

“Forever Entertainment has signed an agreement with Square Enix to create and release several remakes of games based on a single brand owned by a Japanese company,” the press release reads after being crunched through an auto-generated translator. “The name of the game, on the basis of which the Polish company is to create a so-called remake, is to be made public with a separate report, at the start of the global marketing action.”

To reiterate, the press release only issues the arrangement between Square Enix & Future Entertainment. There is no information flagging which games will be involved in this new initiative for the two firms. So guessing is up for discussion as of writing. But looking at remakes already out there, I suggest similar era franchises are underway from decades ago.

Most recently in regards to Forever Entertainment, it was announced that the firm is currently involved with Panzer Dragoon II Zwei: Remake with MegaPixel Studio. The developer on Twitter announced that the game is scheduled to release later in 2021. You can read the full report by heading here.

What Square Enix franchises are you hoping to see be remade in the future?
