Panic Games Showcase Scheduled For August 29

Under the hood of Panic, the firm continues to expand its reach as it further supports to post-launch of the Playdate. Last year, the system officially rolled out after numerous delays thanks to issues restraining the new hardware to ship. On top of that, fans that have been following the game already commenced with support already via the dev kit or in-house Pulp titles for the Playdate too.

By March this past spring, an official store for the Playdate would go live. Dubbed ‘Catalog’ would feature a lineup of titles being featured in the new storefront with promise to include more later on. Additionally, the price for the device also went up to $199 at the time. However, Panic is also noted for its effort as a publisher with games like Untitled Goose Game which launched ahead of the pandemic.

This week, Panic in a new press release announces a presentation for later in August. The firm shares it will be hosting the digital ‘Panic Games Showcase’ on YouTube and will feature two upcoming projects – Nour: Play With Your Food and despelote.

A lot of people out there know us as makers of Mac software like Transmit and Nova. And some people know us as the creators of the Playdate handheld video game system. And honestly, not very many people know us as the publisher of Firewatch and Untitled Goose Game. We thought it’d be fun to put on a little show and let the world know about the wonderful games we’ve been working on publishing, from amazing developers all around the world. Please tune in, as we’re pretty confident you’ll find a neat game or two that speaks to you.

“Beyond new looks at Nour: Play With Your Food and despelote, enjoyers of fine video game software can expect a look at new unannounced titles, game development partnership announcements, and behind-the-scenes looks at the creation of those cool games,” the press release mentions. On X, Panic also confirms there will be no Playdate appearance during the Panic Games Showcase.

“Panic will be showing some of the games featured in the presentation at gamescom, and will also bring some of its lineup to PAX West.
