Hideki Kamiya, the co-founder of PlatinumGames has announced he will be stepping down from the company. The announcement shared by PlatinumGames says that Kamiya will be leaving on October 12, 2023.

Here’s part of the statement shared on Twitter from the studio:

“We are truly grateful for his creative ideas, leadership, and contribution to the growth of PlatinumGames from our start-up to this very day

We believe that he will continue to succeed in his future endeavors as a game creator. We are looking forward to seeing the game industry grow into a better place with him in it. We wish him all the best for the future!”

Hideki Kamiya helped develop games like Wonderful101, the Bayonetta series, NieR: Automata, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, and Astral Chain with one of the canceled projects being Scalebound.

Kamiya shared on Twitter that this wasn’t an easy decision to make, “but after thinking it through based on my own beliefs, I came to the conclusion that this was the best choice”

He still plans to create games, but it looks like he will be creating something on his own.
