Developer Obsidian Entertainment has been quietly working on The Outer Worlds the past few years even before their acquisition by Microsoft last August. At the latest Game Awards show, the developer officially revealed the game to the masses showing off a new and unique world that holds its own authenticity while still showing similarities to the studio’s previous Fallout: New Vegas.

And while the game is planned to come to Xbox, PlayStation, and PC later this October, Obsidian has announced that the upcoming RPG is planning to land on Nintendo Switch sometime after the launch after in the Fall. In the video below, Executive Producer Matthew Singh reveals that Obsidian will be working alongside Virtuos Games for the port to Nintendo’s hybrid handheld console.

The Singapore-based developer is most known for their work porting other popular titles like L.A. Noire and the more recent Final Fantasy XII. Singh rather than just disclosing the reveal for the game’s plan coming to Switch instead gives a full overview of the anticipated title whilst explaining core elements like decisive dialogue, perks, and the outcome for taking damage to the head (in game of course).

For those who might be questioning why the studio under Microsoft’s belt is bringing its game to an competing platform, it should be noted that the game is not a first-party title. As stating previously that the game has been in development prior to the studio’s acquisition, the game’s publisher is Rockstar’s Private Division. However, even if the game was to be developed completely through the Xbox Game Studios network, Microsoft wouldn’t be against a version for Switch as we have seen with other titles.

Singh during the resolution of the announcement video states that “following the launch of the other platforms, The Outer Worlds will be coming to Nintendo Switch.”

What platform will you be getting Obsidian’s next title on?

The Outer Worlds is scheduled to drop for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on October 25, 2019.
