Although the Fallout IP has been a stepping stone for RPGs for more than two decades, the series did not make a truly impactful impression on the industry until the decision to adapt the franchise into a 3D universe. With entries like Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, and Fallout 4, fans found home in the expansive storyline within.
Of course, this came to the discussion of a film/television adaptation with hopes high for that to become a reality. But, some dreams never become true. That was until July 2020 where Amazon Prime Video revealed the Fallout TV series is in the works. Even more, Westworld directors Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy are to helm the production.
Now a new update on the show surfaced this week as Deadline reports the Fallout television show is on the horizon of starting production. Namely due to the two showrunners for the TV series. The outlet shares Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Captain Marvel) and Graham Wagner (Silicon Valley) both were enlisted for the roles.
Other internal staffing for the production includes Kilter Studios’ Athena Wickham as well as Bethesda Game Studios’ Todd Howard and Bethesda Softworks James Altman as executive producers for the series. Currently, casting for the show is still undetermined at the time of reporting.
Elsewhere recently, Howard when speaking to IGN revealed Fallout 5 is very far from being conceived. While he did confirm that the developer has discussed the project, Starfield is a large ambition with The Elder Scrolls VI following behind. After the reception of Fallout 76, it is understandable that the firm wants to put the IP on the backburner for the time being.
In related news to Amazon, the firm is reportedly close to finishing a deal for a Mass Effect TV show as well. You can read the full report by heading here.
