This shouldn’t be too surprising, but the PlayStation 3 had a pretty good run since its launch in Japan on November 11th, 2006 and recently Sony has announced that they will stop production in Japan while it being made still in North America and Europe.
The console remained popular until recently, heavily overlapping the first year of the PS4 and even arguably impacting the initial success of the new console, with a veritable multitude of cross-generation games. It’s very possible that the PS3 can stop production soon all over the world, but we will see and keep you updated.
