Psychonauts 2 Is Getting A Physical Release This September

Later this summer will mark the first full-year since the release of Double Fine Productions’ long-awaited sequel, Psychonauts 2. Announced more than half a decade prior, the team at the now-Xbox Game Studios team delivered its promise of a fulfilling second entry with the wit of the original whilst meeting the standards of the new console generation.

Additionally, the help of Microsoft’s acquisition also revealed many of the boss fights were almost scrapped prior to the deal, studio founder Tim Schaefer revealed.

The Psychonauts 2: The Motherlobe Edition Collector’s Edition is priced at $129.99 at iam8bit with pre-orders now live. For standard retail copies, Target already has listings for the game up now for Xbox One (with Smart Delivery) and PlayStation 4 for $69.99. From previous reports, this appears to be the last stretch from the team regarding Psychonauts 2.

While additional languages is also underway, the work at Double Fine Productions has likely already shifted to a new IP. In a previous interview, Shaefer explained that the developer will be exploring a new property after completing the sequel. You can read the full report by heading here.
