In the large scheme of things for Microsoft’s approach to becoming a prominent figure within the Japanese market, many platform users are adamant in Sega being that doorway for the video game industry respectively. Online, there are fans convinced an acquisition for the entertainment giant is on the horizon. However, that is not the case currently according to its recent reveal.

Last month, Sega shared it will be collaborating with the Xbox company on a new “super game” initiative which integrates Microsoft’s in-house Azure cloud infrastructure. On what this next-generation project will deliver is undetermined, but, readers went on to speculate this could be insisting a potential exclusivity deal with Sega for future software in the Xbox ecosystem.

However, Sega in its recent fiscal year report told that the arrangement is not intended for unique properties through the partnership. Instead, its a bold project with Microsoft’s knowhow that will be beyond just Xbox.

We have also announced the start of a strategic alliance with Microsoft to create Super Games, towards the creation of Super Game which we are aiming in long-term strategy. We already have a very close business relationship with Microsoft. We outsourced the development of their large-scale titles and as a third party, we are supplying a variety of titles.

When we announced the concept of Super Game, Microsoft was sympathetic to that vision and that leads to the announcement this time. About this, we are not talking about releasing games to Microsoft exclusively, but rather to develop Super Game that will be delivered to the world together, with their technical support.

Sega in a separate questions segment elaborates further on the collaboration with Microsoft. “We will collaborate with Microsoft to develop the titles we call ‘Super Game’, but we do not think this will lead to differences in relationship between other platformers as we are planning to release such titles to other platforms as well.

“Microsoft’s cloud service, Azure, is spreading throughout the world, including Africa, South America, and other areas where we are still not able to reach, and we hope we could receive the support from them for those areas as well. We are already collaborating in Azure field for ‘PSO2’, and we would like to further develop this relationship.

“We are also conducting technical verification of whether the vision we want to achieve for new titles that will be developed in the future is feasible. Originally, we proceeded the development on our own, but in terms of delivering innovative titles globally in the future, we judged that it would improve feasibility by receiving technical support from Microsoft, and we reached to the alliance we announced recently.”
