Ever since Rockstar tweeted the first image of Red Dead Redemption 2’s existence back in October of last year and released the trailer a few days after, fans have been inundated with other new games, but no real news regarding any possible release date for Red Dead Redemption’s highly anticipated sequel. That is, until one Polish retailer listed the game on its site, with an availability date.
According to Polish gaming news site CD-Action, Media Markt, a European retailer equivalent to something like Best Buy, listed Red Dead Redemption 2 for sale. Obviously, as the game isn’t yet available, Media Markt listed a release date for the game: October 3rd this year. This date does technically line up with the Fall 2017 timeframe that Rockstar lists on the game’s page on their website.
When confirming the October date, the Media Markt team member emailed CD-Action back, writing “in accordance with the information that our marketing department received from the distributor of the product, the release date is planned for October 3.” However, after clarifying the date’s source with a member of the Media Markt team, CD-Action was contacted by the company’s PR manager and told that the game’s October release was mis-listed and is simply expected to release by the end of this year. The date on the game’s page has also been changed to reflect the statement, now saying December 31 as the release date.
Regardless of this leak’s accuracy, it’s best to wait for Rockstar’s official word on when the game will launch, especially given that E3 is fast-approaching and fall is still a ways off. If we hear more regarding possible release dates, we’ll keep you updated. Until then, be sure to stay tuned to Rectify Gaming for the latest.
