While publisher Electronic Arts continues to capitalize on the sports simulator market for the foreseeable future, the firm is investigating ways to revolutionize the platform it forged over the past couple decades with EA Sports. Recently, a financial report disclosed that the firm could be experimenting with dropping the FIFA title altogether in hope to kindle a new flame for rebranding the IP – similar to eFootball from Konami already.
Elsewhere, Electronic Arts is already on a path to re-introducing previous franchises once more with PGA Tour on the horizon for 2022 already. Additionally, the firm has previously acquired Metalhead Studios to craft an authentic Major League Baseball series as well after the success of Super Mega Baseball already. Also, College Football is in the pipeline as well thanks to a new agreement with CLC back in February this year.
In a report from Video Game Chronicles, the firm is also planning to deliver a new Fight Night entry. Through an employee-wide email, the project codenamed ‘Moneyball’ is likely several years away as staffing for the game and UFC 5 brings stress to the matter. Until the next UFC title is complete, Fight Night is left to hang on the rafters for now.
“We’re very excited about UFC 5 and… we want to eliminate the split focus that several members of our leadership team have had over the past while so we can solely focus on delivering migration and UFC 5 at high quality,” an excerpt from the email to EA Canada employees reads.
The publication goes on to suspect the long-time wait for a new Fight Night game is due to the high cost and licensing for world-renowned boxers in the successful Fight Night Champions. It is suggested focus is pinned toward UFC with an overall league being easier on the publisher’s wallet to pursue over the previous venture.
Would you be excited for a new Fight Night if it gets announced?
