This week swiftly grew attention for Microsoft regarding the company’s new information drop of the approaching Xbox Series X. The company already did something similar earlier in 2020, and now we have more to evaluate and with a bigger picture knowing what is comprised of the next-generation console’s component architecture.

And while there is plenty to gawk at either it being the demolishing load times illustrated for the system or the ability to convert prior generation titles through backwards compatibility to implement HDR support, we still have some blank spaces left unanswered. One concern still boggling fans minds is the price tag that Microsoft will dress the console with – assuming that it will be disclosed later on during its virtual press conference.

While conjecture can be tossed for days for a guesstimate, entertainment outlet IGN instead compromised with building a comparable PC in which would help better mold a designated price range for the new unit. Unraveling the technological structure for the console itself, the ultimate prediction does show to price higher than the preceding Xbox One.

For the CPU, the likeliest culprit is said to be the Ryzen 7 3700X though being more powerful than what is subjected for the Xbox Series X, does however, align with the console’s graphics horsepower which runs for $289. For the GPU, this was more troubling to put the nail on as the verdict was split between the $400 Radeon RX 5700 XT (which does not support raytracing) and the RTX 2080 Super costing roughly $700.

Moving onto the memory for the console, it was dictated that the unit would be consisting of a Patriot Signature Premium DDR4 8GB module, 1 TB NVMe SSD, and “UHD-friendly” Blu-ray drive equaling out to $300 even. Despite the in-house sculpted architecture from Microsoft, the memory components actually plays a part which runs parallel to both the GPU & CPU.

Although not even considering the costs for a chassis to keep the components in check, motherboard, and power supply, the grand total already sits over $1,000. Bulk purchasing also goes into consideration which shares to cheapen the investment quite a bit for the company alongside the pieces unique from Microsoft’s workshop. Coming to the conclusion that a rough estimate for the model will stand tall, literally, above $600 at least.

With the Xbox Series X being marketed as the beefier SKU for the next generation from Microsoft, this is to be expected despite hopes for a similar price tag to this generation’s hardware. Users looking for a lighter burden on their bank account can sit patiently for the reported Project Lockhart.

Do you think the $600+ price tag justifies the Xbox Series X?

Xbox Series X is scheduled to arrive sometime later on in holiday 2020.
