Report: Xbox Developer Kits Also Face A Price Hike, Now Costing $2,000 Per Unit

The state of Xbox appears to continue to sour the soil for its users with new announcements that continue to roll out so far this fall. One of the biggest gut punches came when it was confirmed a new line of prices are to roll out for Xbox Series consoles. This came not too long after the first price increase that took place earlier this spring already.

Additionally, it was notoriously revealed that Xbox Game Pass will also be restructuring its tier system. Most notably, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will soon cost users $30 per month for the service. However, it was clarified that select regions in Europe will not face this decision after all if they remain a concurrent subscriber to Xbox Game Pass.

And amid the chaos, more price jumps are taking place elsewhere. Although not directly affecting the consumer, it will impact how players can find new games on the platform. It was reported by The Verge that Microsoft is increasing the pricing for its developer kits. Originally, the dev kit would cost $1,500, but the new change has surged the price to now $2,000.

This comes at an already anxious time for the platform as many were excited to see the platform be dismantled by Microsoft. Previously, a rumor was swirling that the Xbox firm would be shelving efforts on the next line of hardware. But, it did not take long for Microsoft to denounce the claims as plans are to move forward on the next-generation.

As for how the consoles are delivered, Xbox is still available at Target & Wal-Mart currently. But, the same cannot be said for Xbox at other brick & Mortar locations.
