Capcom has just released a new Resident Evil 7: Biohazard “Lantern” gameplay trailer.
The trailer shows a woman, or at least a woman giving a first-person narrative, trying to escape from a rural neighborhood. She informs “Ethan” in a recording she may not survive her escape. In her escape, she tries to evade from a mysterious figure holding a lantern (hence the name of the trailer). After going through houses in a rural town, a zombie-like woman appears screeching “Where do you think you’re going?!”
Even though the description says “gameplay”, it looks more like a cut scene demo. There is no life bar, map, or any other HUD. Shining objects appear in the game, however, indicating you can pick them up like in previous ones. Still, for the moment, the game looks incomplete, although it will be in first-person as shown.
How will Capcom make a “true” sequel after the events of Resident Evil 6 made the virus global? Will the game restrict the setting to one location like the first ones were?
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard will answer these questions on January 24th, 2017 for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
