After the turnout for the video game industry in 2024, the market is severed between both traditional gaming & mobile alternatives. From gamesindustry.biz, console did outperform PC. However, the publication revealed that both combined still sit second to mobile gaming in overall gross revenue. And, there is more to come from it as well.

The drive for mobile gaming is a focus for many firms like Microsoft which acquired Activision Blizzard King over the matter. Additionally, Niantic was the latest example of a mobile empire buyout as well. Earlier in March, Scopely acquired the Pokémon Go developer for $3.5 billion. Now, the parent company for Scopely is eager to explore more avenues for consoles & PC now.

According to an interview with PocketGamer.biz during GDC recently, Scopely parent company Savvy Games Group is avidly working towards opening itself to ventures beyond mobile gaming for console as well as PC. CEO Brian Ward explains that the vision for the firm included exploring traditional platforms, but hasn’t found anything “super compelling and that would be a good fit for us.”

He continues: “We’re still sort of working that out. But we do need to turn our mind to PC and console. That could be through the lens of Scopely, but there could be something that’s not in Scopely’s wheelhouse also, but hopefully we’ll figure that out shortly.” Ward on web-based gaming shared: Nobody’s even actually raised it internally to say this is something we should have a meeting about.”

Thus far, the biggest venture for Scopely in the console space has been Stumble Guys. The game originally released on PC alongside its mobile counterparts. The game did suffice enough traction to also launch on Xbox as well last year. You can read the full report by heading here.
