Although chatter of an Illumination-produced Super Mario Bros. movie was tossed around for years, it was in 2021 that Nintendo revealed the official casting for the project. Including the likes of Chris Pratt, Anya-Taylor Joy, Charlie Day, and Jack Black, many were interested to see what the film will offer. While its 2022 box office release was pushed to this year, Universal Pictures did confirm an April release was already established with its first trailer.
Already, ahead of the film’s debut, talks of potential sequels were passed around. Not to mention “additional markets” also welcoming an official theatrical release in April & May too. So now more viewers can digest the upcoming Super Mario film: details were left out if this will include China which is an evident boost in film releases.
