
As of recent, there have been a slowing number of releases from Sega as of late. And this was as to be expected the firm stated previously, Due to this, it disclosed additional funding would be put towards Sonic the Hedgehog, RGG Studio, and Atlus. The publisher has remarked on the three studios being its most recognized pillars and is confident in the revenue generated from each respectively.
Looking ahead, it is anticipated that Atlus is preparing to ship something this year. Already, it was announced that Persona 4 Revival is in development as many anticipate the release date to be scheduled sometime in 2026. Not to mention the series’ 30th anniversary taking place this year as well; chances more announcements to be made is better than ever.
In a recent Q3 financial report from Sega Sammy, the new filing reveals that Sega is preparing to offer four major releases throughout the course of this coming fiscal year. The slide says Sega will “plan to release four major new titles for mainstay IPs” as well as “maximize title potential through enhancement of ‘sales capabilities’”. The same page also added that Sega intends to “continue to expand Transmedia business.”
Composed of already announced projects, another likely title to fill the list is Stranger than Heaven. The game has been in development for a few years now and received a proper title over the previous ‘Project Century’ name it was announced as. Transmedia on the other hand is an effort that has further been explored by Sega with the success of Paramont’s Sonic the Hedgehog.
Recently, it was confirmed that Kristen Bell (Frozen) is to voice Amy in Sonic the Hedgehog 4. But, there are more on the way as well regarding Sega properties. In 2024, Sega appointed former Disney executive Justine Scarpone to oversee its transmedia division and has gone on to establish multiple projects like Shinobi, Golden Axe, and OutRun.
