It looks that The Coalition will be inviting the majority of Xbox One owners to this weekend’s Versus Tech Test session which kicks off later today. Initially, the multiplayer playtest was unique to those who pre-ordered the game through the Xbox store or selected retailers and Xbox Game Pass subscribers: now, those who pay for the platform’s online service will now be included into the mix.
In part of the announcement for the test’s new additions, The Coalition shared that those who play later from 5:30 PM PST – 6:30 PM PST will also receive a ‘Wreath Bloodspray’ for players to use when playing Gears 5.

This is the second Tech Test that the developer is hosting, and unlike other titles that received multiple sessions pre-launch, The Coalition will also be including a band of tweaks and adjustments to this follow-up playtest. Sharing that some elements like better overall matchmaking, game crashes, & kicking idled players in a short time have been reviewed and resolved for this weekend’s online event.
New features as well have made a proper entry into this approaching Versus Tech Test with things like bots for King of the Hill & Escalation game modes. The studio also made some minimal changes to better the experience for both Training Grounds and Escalation game types after looking over the past Tech Test.
Will you be joining the COG or Locust in this weekend’s Versus Tech Test?
Gears 5 will be launching on September 15, 2019 for Xbox One and PC.
