Towerborne comes to Console in Game Preview release set for next month

Amid the concerns of what projects Xbox Game Studios has in incubation, it was surprising to learn that the firm would be publishing a new IP from the Banner Saga developer, Stoic Studios. It was reported back in 2021 that a new project under the codename ‘Project Belfry’ was in development alongside other aliased titles for Xbox from teams like InXile Entertainment, and Compulsion Games then.

In summer 2023, Stoic Studios & Xbox Game Studios unveiled the new game – Towerborne. Revealed to being a side-scrolling action-adventure project, it would another fleshed out world after the experience garnered from Banner Saga. In September 2024, Towerbonre went ahead releasing on Steam via Early Access with plans to expand from there at a later date.

This week, Stoic Studios returns to share that Towerborne is now set to release next month on Xbox via Game Preview. You can watch the new Game Preview trailer in the video below:

“Towerborne is a new kind of looter-brawler, combining classic side-scrolling combat with ARPG customization and endlessly replayable adventures. It allows you and your friends to find a playstyle from multiple classes, specialize your builds, earn rewards, and head back into the fray as a team of Aces guarding their beleaguered Belfry in a gorgeous, ever-evolving fantasy world,” the synopsis for the game shares.

“PC and Xbox players will be able to party up together, no matter their platform (including Steam) – and progression is shared across all platforms,” it adds. “New for this release, you’ll now be able to grab a second (or third, or fourth) controller and play Towerborne together on a single screen. Consider this a love letter to the feeling of playing local co-op in classic brawlers of yesteryear!”
