During the most recent PlayStation State of Play live presentation back in December, developer Illfonic disclosed in a new trailer that Predator: Hunting Grounds will be arriving to PlayStation 4 alongside PC on April 24th in the following months. What fans didn’t know until earlier this month is that the team was prepping for a free weekend ahead of the game’s release.
Starting today on March 27 until this Sunday on March 29 all users on PlayStation 4 will have the opportunity to drop into the game and test the waters of the survival online experience.
While fans who have played previous titles from Illfonic like Friday the 13th: The Game know what they can expect from this weekend’s demo already, the studio’s Lead Designer Jordan Mathewson gives a detailed list of pointer to excel your experience against the intergalactic apex predator. Of course, elements from the titular film can be implemented like covering yourself in mud is one way to keep your step ahead as prey.
Mathewson urges those pitted against the Predator to never break from the group, but clarifies that you don’t want to bunch too close tighter either as doing so will potentially kill you all from a single shot of the Plasma Caster. He also suggests that players should always keep hesitant on their surroundings and check all spots above and nearby to steer clear from dying early on.
The developer then goes on to give some tips on those playing the other side of the objective, telling that you should play strategically when deciding to pounce on a player. While they are together, you can single out the soldiers who strand a little off from the pack. Utilization of the thermal vision mode will also help understand your prey’s location and scanning weapons will differentiate players from the occasional NPC.
