Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage Closed Beta Kicks Off This Week

The current trajectory for Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio’s release lineup for the remainder of 2025 is strong. Although recently showcasing Stranger Than Heaven earlier this summer, the Like a Dragon/Super Monkey Ball team is also shaping up other projects to hit stores this fall. On Nintendo Switch 2, both Yakuza Kiwami & Yakuza Kiwami 2 will receive native releases for the console.

Additionally, Virtua Fighter 5 is finding new life on the latest console hardware too. In August, it was announced that Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage is coming to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. Nintendo Switch is promised a release next year in 2026. Owners of the original game will be offered a 50% discount for the next-gen version and all downloadable content will be transferable as well. 

Now a month away from Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage releasing, RGG Studio is preparing a closed beta for the game. From September 10th to September 15th you can play when signing up. The exclusive playtest will feature cross-platform play between all supported systems – it does exclude Nintendo Switch, however.

“We are excited to announce a Closed Beta Test for Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O., focusing on cross-platform online matchmaking between PlayStation5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam),” the post reads. “You can participate in this beta even if you are not subscribed to any online service for your platform.” On console, a Sega Account is required to participate while PC is not.

“Each SEGA Account can receive only one Closed Beta Test product code for one platform. Please select your desired platform carefully on the campaign site. Please note that only one product code can be redeemed per title,” Sega discloses in the disclaimer. “If you add or change your linked platform after linking your SEGA Account, you will not receive a product code for the newly linked platform. Please carefully choose your platform.”
