1 vs 100 on Xbox Live was a massively multiplayer online Xbox Live adaptation of the trivia game show of the same name. The game went into beta November 2009 with a successful outcome, I remember I was at my cousins house and we went on and played it with 2 controllers and we had a room with other people in it. That was one of the best things about the game it brought everyone together in the house or you and your buddies on Xbox wanted to take a break from playing Halo 3 and decided to play something casual and fun.
There were two versions of the game, referred to as 1 vs. 100 Live and 1 vs. 100 Extended Play. The Live version was hosted by Chris Cashman in North America and James McCourt in the UK and Ireland, and places a single contestant as “The One” against a group of 100 that make up “The Mob”, with the rest of the players making up “The Crowd”. There was the Live show about 1 time a week and then the extended plays with different themes every hour and day. If you kept on playing the extended plays you gave yourself a chance to get into the mob or to be The One. Believe it or not 1 vs 100 did get intense at times when you were on a big streak. Lets not forget the game is on the Xbox Feedback site with 5.7k Votes to bring it back.
Dave McCarthy, general manager for Lifestyle Entertainment at Microsoft Studios: “It has a good image here,” back in 2014.
“The notion of bringing a large number of people together in both a social and let’s say a more casual gaming format is something we believe in a lot,” he said. “In some ways 1 vs. 100 was a little bit ahead of its time. From a production perspective it gave us a few challenges in terms of the sheer effort to bring that to market on a regular basis.”
The Xbox community loved the game, people bought Xbox’s and gold membership just for this game. To this day people want it back including me. I’ve been shut down by Phil Spencer, Major Nelson when i asked “Do you think 1 vs 100 will ever comeback?” Major replies ” Probably not ” and then here is the tweet Phil Spencer replied to https://twitter.com/xboxp3/status/600798211473690624
Sadly though, Summer of 2010 was a depressing one for us 1 vs 100 fans. The official Twitter account had announced that the game would no longer continue. Here is the tweet from Chris Cashman the host of the game show on Xbox Live:
I too am very sad about the news that 1vs100 on XBOX is done. So sad that I even hear mood music — http://youtu.be/D7RjOMv5STw – #missumob

So now lets get on to the topic “What if 1 vs 100 made a shocking comeback?” Well with the power of the Xbox One it would probably be one of the best experience’s on the Xbox One. So what would the games new features be? This what we think:
8-12 person parties in game. Since the 4 limit was pretty small and it was a ‘party game’
Kinect Gestures/ Voice Commands. This would make the Kinect useful and to be able to answer a question by hovering your hand over or tell your Xbox “A”, “X” or “Y” would be a neat/ unique feature.
Avatars would be relevant. Avatars were a big part of the game as well if you wanted to show off your awesome clothes you bought for your Avatar. Right now it seems like there is no point to them.
Even today fans on Reddit still want it back. 1 vs 100 is a game that no one will ever forget about, it was so unique and we may never see a game like it on Xbox One or any other consoles.
Another feature that would probably have to work for 1 vs 100 would be somehow to put micro transactions in the game so Microsoft can make money off of it. One of the reasons they had to shut it down was because it was expensive to produce.
Also, I don’t know how this would work but a feature to allow you to play it on Windows 10? I have no clue if that would be possible or not but it’s an idea.
Recently on Twitter we caught up with one of the best 1 vs 100 players in the US his name was “Mutant Dog 123” this is what he had to say:
@Wifiplayer13 @TyboyN17 I'd still rank it as the greatest video game experience I've ever had. I just wish it could have kept running.

If Microsoft were to have this game back exclusively they would be selling more consoles and getting more gold accounts. It almost seems like now Phil Spencer and the Xbox team have no motivation to bring it back or bringing a family game like that to Xbox One. Or maybe they are being secretive. You never know in this business.
Hope you all enjoyed my thoughts on all of this let us know in the comments and share this all over!
We want 1 vs 100 back!
