In terms of its controller ‘game’, Microsoft continues to provide new and expressive options for its choice of game paddles available for its users. Just last week did the Xbox company ships its latest gamepad – the Aqua Shift Edition. Additionally, Microsoft has plans for more options as well coming later this fall, of course.
Last month, Microsoft shared that Forza Horizon 5 is received a Special Edition controller which encaptures the essence of the new setting in Mexico while reintroducing the transparent controller shell once more. Elsewhere around the same time did Microsoft reveal a Special Edition Xbox Elite 2 Controller for Halo Infinite which is set to arrive later this autumn as well.
From Microsoft this week, Xbox controllers (Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Elite 2, Xbox Adaptive Controller) are all receiving a major firmware update that is to improve the experience for owners across the magnitude of supported platforms.
We are excited to begin flighting a new firmware update for Xbox One controllers with Bluetooth support, Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2, and Xbox Adaptive Controllers that delivers next-gen features previously available only on Xbox Series X|S controllers, including better cross-device connectivity and reduced latency. We believe it’s important to maintain backward compatibility with Xbox accessories people already have in their collection and to ensure we deliver the best gaming experience no matter how you choose to play.
Daniel Ruiz, Xbox Accessories Product Marketing Manager
“This level of compatibility and connectivity has become the norm for modern devices and accessories,” Ruiz explains on the matters of improved cross-device support. “Increasingly, the controller will be your common touch point to your Xbox games across devices. We are invested in expanding Xbox gaming beyond the console, so Xbox controllers need to work equally well on both Xbox consoles and Bluetooth devices and moving between all these devices needs to be easy.”
Low latency is also a focal point for the new update as well, Ruiz elaborates. “With this firmware update, we are bringing to these controllers the innovation of Dynamic Latency Input (DLI). Dynamic Latency Input delivers controller inputs more efficiently to your Xbox Series X|S console for a more responsive gaming experience and seemingly instantaneous action.”
