In late December last year, developer Ryu Ga Gotoku revealed that the team is amping up for major additions concerning the Yakuza/Like a Dragon IP. Despite airing a live-action show that fall already, plans to commemorate two decades of the franchise is to come. And, it started strong already with the launch of Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii this past February.
Additionally, RGG Studio has also worked in new collaborations for the universe as well. This past spring, RGG Studio in partnership with InnerSloth launched a Like a Dragon event for Among Us which featured many iconic characters for cosmetic unlocks in-game. Additionally, Like a Dragon will make an appearance in Sonic Racing: Crossworlds as Ichiban Kasuga will be a featured character for the game in its post-launch.
And after the firm has previously teased that Yakuza Kiwami 3 will eventually come, fans haven’t been able to give up on hoping for a soon announcement. And with evidence pointing towards the reveal being in September, it only fuels the flames. Recently, it was uncovered online that the official RGG website lists Yakuza Kiwami 3 before being swiftly removed. @Z64Gaming on X has since uploaded what it read before the change.
The website when live initially only offered a category for Yakuza Kiwami 3. With that in mind, there was no new information on what the new game will be aside from confirming that the game is coming. It is not the only Kiwami on the way. Sega & RGG Studio is to ship Yakuza Kiwami & Yakuza Kiwami 2 for Nintendo Switch 2 in November this fall.
Other pressed upon titles that could make an appearance is Stranger than Heaven. The new IP from Ryu Ga Gotoku is still in active development, but the game studio did share a wider look at what this game will offer when it fully releases. You can read the full report by heading here.
