Netflix, CD Projekt Red Reveals New Special Project Now In The Works For Cyberpunk 2077

One of the biggest crazes to come from Netflix in its video game adaptations is Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Announced during the height of Cyberpunk 2077’s hype, fans were excited to see what anime has planned. Even more so learning that Studio Trigger – the team most notable for Kill La Kill – is behind the new project. And when it came out, it was a beloved addition alongside other shows like Castlevania.

However, the only saddinging part of it all is the realization that no follow-ups are planned. Producer Satoru Honma expressed that it was a single story with its plot mostly answered for by the last episode. And with CD Projekt Red confirming that Cyberpunk 2077 is working on a live-action project with Anonymous Content, it was assumed that would be the last we hear from Netflix on the matter.

Instead, Netflix shares itself alongside CD Projekt Red are teaming once again for Cyberpunk 2077 on a new animated, special project. You can watch the teaser in the video below:

“Return to Night City,” the description for the teaser on YouTube reads. The official blog post for Netflix Geeked Week 2024 also includes: “Untitled Animation Project: Netflix Animation + Cyberpunk  + CD Projekt Red.” Currently, it is unsure if it will be another anime exactly or something else in that vein. What’s more, nothing confirms is Studio Trigger is to return for another project.

During the same presentation, Netflix did also share new information on the upcoming Splinter Cell anime. While details are light, it did confirm the title for the show – Splinter Cell: Deathwatch. You can read the full report by heading here.
