Last year it was revealed that an unannounced Twisted Metal live service title was canceled after layoffs at PlayStation. This was also months after the live-action show of the series aired on Peacock which brought a new flavor to the classic series. New reports indicate that the canceled project was a Battle Royale game.
The information comes from a website created by someone who worked on the Twisted Metal game as a UI programmer. According to the description, the title was known as ‘Project Copper’, and it suggested the game was a battle royale game.

According to mp1st, the description mentioned the game was based “on a classic PlayStation IP,” which could very well be Twisted Metal. It would have contained third-person shooting mechanics along with vehicular combat, with the game’s object being to be the last one alive.

The images that were leaked show the vehicular combat and sequences where it was in third-person using weapons, fighting other players, and more.
Meanwhile, Season 1 of Twisted Metal is available to watch on Peacock. It was confirmed that the live-action television series would be getting a second season in 2025 The canceled project from PlayStation was allegedly going to have a connection to the TV show, but sadly we will never get to see how that would have been.
Sony has been on a hot streak with its adaptations as of late. They released the Gran Turismo movie over a year ago and The Last of Us Season 2 is set to begin this April.
