Even though Microsoft had revealed the Xbox revenue was down by 9% in itsĀ fiscal year 2016 fourth quarter, the monthly active users went up by 33% on Xbox Live as last year the total was at 37 million active users. They did not reveal any revenue numbers or even how many Xbox consoles were sold during this 4th quarter.
The most likely reason it was down was because of the lower console pricing. In other words,Ā Microsoft’s gaming revenue for the period fell $152 million which represented the 9% loss.
There was Ā a 13% increase in gaming hours on the Xbox One and a 19% increase on Windows 10. Microsoft’s sales might be down, but there looks to be plenty of gamers playing Xbox One.
