IO Interactive announces 007 First Light reveal for this week

IO Interactive, the developers behind the popular and iconic Hitman series, has been working on a new 007 game for the last several years. Today, the official name of this project was announced as “007 First Light,” and it was announced that the game reveal will be this week.

While Summer Game Fest is going live on Friday, the IO Interactive Showcase was also announced and it will feature the new 007 game and more. 

The post on X (Twitter) didn’t provide much information besides “Mission brief is headed your way soon.” and saying stay tuned for more information.

For the longest time, this game was referred to “Project 007” when it was announced in 2020. It was reported in 2021 that IO Interactive would eventually turn into a trilogy as the company would look to add another studio.

007 First Light is confirmed to release on the Nintendo Switch 2 as IO Interactive also made an appearance at the Switch 2 Reveal Direct held on April 2, 2025.
