For the past year now there has been a trend set by Microsoft: its new releases – at least for players on PlayStation – are propelled to the top-leading sellers on the PlayStation Store. In the past, we’ve seen this with games like Sea of Thieves for a few months back in spring 2024 for both April & May then. Additionally, more of its games are also proving to leave the same effect as well.

The most recent wave of new games on the platform like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle alongside The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered & Forza Horizon 5 have proven to be top contenders for the month of April 2025. And this is expected to maintain now with two other games from Xbox aiming towards PlayStation 5 – Gears of War: Reloaded & Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II.

Recently, Sony Interactive Entertainment has published its latest PlayStation Store records and shares that PlayGround Games is still leading on the storefront in both the United States as well as Europe. This is also accounted by other Xbox releases like Minecraft, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Doom: The Dark Ages and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

“May came and went at lightning speeds as Forza Horizon 5 won the US and EU PS5 charts,” Sony Interactive Entertainment content communications specialist O’Dell Harmon Jr wrote. In the United States, half of the PlayStation Store top ten selling purchases were of an Xbox-owned property. In Europe, it counts four titles in the respected top ten list.

What does come as a surprise is the placement for Doom: The Dark Ages. It is recorded at 4th in the United States and 9th in Europe. Despite being an anticipated third game, the title did not face higher engagement. It was revealed that Doom: The Dark Ages did exceed more than 3 million players in its first week, but, that it leads on Xbox & PC more than PlayStation it appears.
