Amazon Prime has been planning the God of War live-action TV Series for a few years now, and we finally received new reports on it. According to IGN and Collider, the God of War TV Series might start filming in 2026 at the earliest. Season 1 is 10 episodes long, and the scripts are still being written.
The report on the God of War TV series also mentions that the show will adapt the Norse era games and will focus on Kratos and Atreus. Game Director Cory Barlog is also heavily involved in production.
In 2024, a report from Deadline shared that Amazon Prime’s God of War TV show reset production as it enlisted a new showrunner. Ronald D. Moore is now the showrunner for the effort on the God of War series. He will also be credited as an executive producer and writer for the series.
God of War is beloved by fans
This year, Sony has ranked God of War as PlayStation’s most engaged franchise to date. It’s ahead of The Last of Us, Spider-Man, Gran Turismo, Uncharted, and many others.
With how adaptations have been over the last few years, there is certainly optimism that a God of War TV Series has great potential. The Last of Us turned out to be a wild success for HBO and Sony. The Fallout TV Series also seemed to turn out to be great for the IP, Amazon Prime, and Bethesda in the long run.
