Mask Shard in Hollow Knight Silksong is a unique item that boosts health by one mask. Acquiring them during the journey can be challenging, as they’re in different areas. While some can be collected by simply picking them up, others can be obtained by completing the quest or defeating the specific boss.
Every upgrade in this game matters, so it’s worth gaining one additional health icon. The enemies get more powerful once you start progressing, and can deal massive damage, so having additional health can save you from getting killed. | Mask Shard #1 | Wormways | Use the elevator to reach the top from Bone Bottom. Get your hands on the hanging steel. Attack the flying creature to move to the top of the cell. Move to the hold on the left side after jumping on the other cell over there. Drop down from the hold to reach the boss arena. You can simply avoid the boss, as all you need to do is use the platform. Move to the other side of the arena and get to the base level till you find yourself on the body of water. Use the needle to destroy the hidden wall. Move through the newly created path and pick up Mask Shard. |
| Mask Shard #2 | Bone Bottom | Make your way to the Bone Bottom after defeating the Bell Beast. You have to use the Silkspear to free this boss and then eliminate it. Speak with the Pebb after getting inside the village. Use 300 Rosaries to purchase the Mask Shard from the shop over there. The Mask Shard prompt appears as “Just a piece of something greater, but finely crafted. You should take it with you, traveller, for luck.”. |
| Mask Shard #3 | Deep Docks | Acquiring this one requires you to have the Double Jump ability. Move all the way to the Bench in The Marrow. This one is located in the northwest of the Deep Docks. You need to move down and keep running to the right. Eventually, you will get to the Deep Docks. There are plenty of platforms that you need to jump through. Kill every enemy in your path and move to the right to collect the Mask Shard over there. |
| Mask Shard #4 | Far Fields | First, you need to unlock the Drifter’s Cloak to glide into the air. Move to the Far Fields from the Deep Docks. Jump across the platform in this area to reach the left side of this area. A time will come when you encounter updrafts blocked with lava shells. However, the first few updrafts will be open, indicated by the wind blowing out of them. You need to let the air out by breaking the shell. Travel to the left of the area. This allows you to get to another room, where you come across a big bomb. However, the bomb is stuck to the ceiling. Use the Drifter’s Cloak ability to reach over there. |
| Mask Shard #5 | Shellwood | Move to the right after the Travel Point of Shellwood. You will eventually get inside the next chamber. Use the platform to move down and pass through the hole. The hole is on your right side, allowing you to get to the next area. Use the downward pierce move on white flowers to jump, allowing you to reach the right side of this area. You will obtain the Mask Shard when you reach all the way to the end. |
| Mask Shard #6 | Cogwork Core | Travel to the left and move down till you find a path leading to the left after moving from the bench at Cogword Core. Moving to the first left takes you to the boss arena. Get access to the room on the left by eliminating all the enemies over there. You can collect the Mask Shard once you get inside the room. |
| Mask Shard #7 | Weavenest Atla | Acquiring this Mask shard requires you to have Swift Step, Cling Grip, and Drifter’s Cloak. Set your journey from the Bench at Moss Grotto and head to the Weavenest Atla. Travel to the right after getting inside this region. After some time, you will be at the teleportation spot. This spot allows you to move to the upper section of this region. Hug the wall on the right till you get to the opening after moving on the walls. Travel to the tight till you reach a lava chamber on the east side. Jump on the platforms to complete the challenge. You need to jump over the flying creatures and other objects to move upward. Now, jump to move to the platform on the left side to collect the Mask Shard. |
| Mask Shard #8 | Whispering Vaults | Move the southeast portion of this region, and you will find a path on the left. Taking this path allows you to enter the hall. Hit the ceiling to open up in this dark hall. Hitting the ceiling on different spots allows you to open it. Climb the wall to get inside the other dark chamber. Hit the ceiling to climb to the top and reach all the way to the peak. The Mask Shard is available in the glass cage over there. |
| Mask Shard #9 | Bilewater | Set your journey to the Bilewater from the Whispering Vaults. Be careful, as this area is filled with multiple threats like swamps and deadly creatures. You can find the Mask Shard on the eastern side of this region. Travel to the northeastern from the Bench at the bottom of the Bilewater. Use the Clawline and Swift Step to navigate through the floating platform in this area. |
| Mask Shard #10 | The Slab | Move to the right after heading to the Bench north of the Slab. Use the Key of Apostate to unlock the locked door. Once the door is unlocked, move to the right side to get on the platform. Doing so allows for the trap in this area to be triggered. Be aware of the spinning blades over your head. Pass through these blades by using the Needle and Clawline ability. Move to the top to collect the Mask Shard from the cell. Use the needle to break this cell. |
| Mask Shard #11 | Mount Fay | Make your way all to the bench in Mount Fay. The bench is located at the west of this region. Use 90 Rosaries to activate the bench and rest at it. Move to the left and jump over the platform to leave this chamber. Continue moving to the left till you come across the tunnel above you. You need to jump to get inside the walls and move forward to collect Mask Shard. |
| Mask Shard #12 | Blasted Steps | Your goal is to reach the bench in the south of this region. The bench is located next to the path that takes you to Bone Bottom. Drop down from the hole after moving to the right from the bench. Move to the ground level and keep rushing towards the left. Drop down again past the altar. You will come across a floating platform after moving to the leftmost part of this area. Use the Clawline to jump on the platform. Move to the top after passing through several platforms. Destroy the cocoon and collect the Mask shard from its left side. |
| Mask Shard #13 | Choral Chamber | Complete The Wandering Merchant and The Lost Merchant Wish in Act III. Locate the Jubilana from the bench available on the northeast of Choral Chambers. Use 750 Rosaries to purchase the Mask Shard from this NPC. |
| Mask Shard #14 | Far Fields | Travel to the right from the Hot Air Balloon. This balloon is available on the south side of the Far Fields. Use the Clawline when you see the lava after moving to the right. Locate the Skull room available on the right side. You need to move inside this room to initiate the Lave challenge, but the bath is closed. Get ready to complete the challenge. |
| Mask Shard #15 | Bellhart | You need to accept the Dark Hearts Wish at the Wishwall in Bellhart during Act 3. Demolish 12 Void Mass to complete the quest. These dark blob creatures are hanging on the walls. Use your needle to destroy them. Completing this quest allows you to gain Mask Shard. |

| Mask Shard #20 | Wisp Thicket | Move to the right and get to the top once you start your journey from the bench on the southeast side of Wisp Thicket. After that, move to the right to exit this chamber. Keep moving to the right, but keep dodging the bugs in this room. Make your way all to the end and collect the Mask Shard from the left after climbing up. |
Using Mask Shards to Increase Health
A single Mask Shard is not enough, as it’s not that effective. Make sure to collect at least four of them, allowing you to complete the mask and enhance your maximum health by 1. Collect all 20 Mask Shards to gain 10 Life Points.
