In 2025, No Man’s Sky’s periodical updates were nothing to shrug at. In June with the ‘Beacon’ update, Nintendo Switch 2 was welcomed to the equation with the patchwork featuring heavily on space settlements then. Additionally, the later ‘Voyagers’ update in August emphasized on new features like skydiving, multiplayer crews, and space autopilot as well.

Then in October, update ‘Breach’ showcased new tech with No Man’s Sky introducing space wrecks, salvaging, and ghost ships now populating the depths of space. 2026 was no different with the update that kicked off the new year. In February, ‘Remnant’ went ahead with the new waste management feature alongside vehicle customization & salvage expeditions too.

Now this Wednesday, Hello Games returns with a new update for No Man’s Sky. ‘Xeno Arena’ features a new take on PvP with creature battles being the primary focus as well as other additions like creature breeding with a new survey mode also. You can watch the update trailer in the video below:

“Xeno Arena lets you raise, train and battle the alien creatures found across the universe. Most of the planets you’ve visited in your travels have always been teeming with wildlife – and now, for the first time, those creatures are not just your companions, but your squad and maybe your champions!” the update reads. “We have this whole universe filled with an infinite variety of creatures, and we’ve added to that for ten years now. You have everything from dinosaurs to flying cows to robots to gaseous blobs.”

The blog post adds that: “Once found, creatures can be trained, or can be bred and even genetically modified to create new variants and unique colours. Feeding, bonding and sparring raises their abilities over time. […] The Xeno Arena itself is a new multiplayer-enabled structure you can construct and open to other travellers. Challenge friends to creature battles, host tournaments, or travel the galaxy taking on other players’ arena champions. Ranks, leagues and future seasonal rewards promise to keep that competition alive.”
