Super Mario Galaxy Movie earns $964 million at Worldwide Box Office

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has been available at theaters worldwide since April 1, 2026. As of Sunday, May 17, 2026, the movie has earned $964 million at the worldwide box office.

Super Mario Galaxy Movie has now officially surpassed A Minecraft Movie, which was at $960 million at the global box office. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is now the second-highest-grossing video game adaptation of all time. It only trails The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

The Mario Galaxy Movie only just released in Japan on April 24, 2026, so it will get more of a run at the box office to reach the big $1 Billion.

More Nintendo Movies Coming

Nintendo is working on more movies. We know there will be The Legend of Zelda Movie coming out next April. However, Illumination and Nintendo seem to have something planned for April 2028. This could be our first spinoff movie in the Mario Cinematic Universe featuring Donkey Kong.

There have been other movies that are reportedly happening. Earlier reports indicate discussions of a Luigi’s Mansion Movie happening with Charlie Day, and a Metroid movie is currently being pitched. Sony and Illumination also seem to be fighting for the rights of some of these films.
