Microsoft had a great quarter with growth seen in each segment besides gaming. Revenues for the Xbox division fell including Xbox Live Active Subscriptions which is a bit surprising given the last 3 months were in Microsoft’s favor and with all these great Xbox One S bundle deals that you really can’t beat.
Gaming revenue was down by 5% year after year; Xbox Live subscribers went up year on year by 21%, while at 47 million active users they were actually down from previous quarter which was at 49 million. The lower revenues for the Xbox division were most likely due to Xbox 360 being transitioned out, and making the prices even lower.
This is not a scare to Microsoft at all as they said recently that they expect better performance for Xbox in the UK and US this holiday season and the revenue trend to continue. Good news is that sales are up in North America and in the United Kingdom.
