THQ Nordic has slowly been rebuilding the original publisher after closing down back in 2012 with acquiring the sold properties like Dead Island and Homefront, and most recently with the big acquisition of Nickelodeon properties. And now the publisher has announced that they acquired another favorite franchise.

THQ announced today that all properties for The Kingdoms of Amalur was purchased and owned by the Austrian-based company. As well as obtaining other assets from 38 Studios, along side Big Huge Games who developed the 2012 game.

On top of today’s acquisition, THQ also obtained Project Copernicus. An MMORPG that never made it to shelves based in the Kingdoms of Amalur universe. The possibility of seeing a return in the game’s world could happen if THQ Nordic decides to expand on the recent acquisitions.

Exciting times are arriving for the young publisher as titles under its name is arriving and many currently in the works. To hope the same doesn’t happen to Nordic as it did to the original THQ, there’s a bright future ahead when looking back with the acquisitions made on games by the now closed publisher.

Previously, Dead Island 2 was confirmed to still be in development. Assuming this was resulted from the publisher acquiring the IP, we still would have assumed there was no chance of still seeing the sequel to the 2011 game.
