Last week, word broke out from YouTuber LongSensation that this year’s Call of Duty will be titled ‘Modern Warfare’, and revealing that the coming first-person shooter will be a light reboot of the series under Infinity Ward. Following the disclosed information going public, Kotaku’s Jason Schreier later confirmed that the leak was in fact real.

The YouTube channel continued sharing more details on the title such as the decision for the unannounced title sharing the same name as the original 2007 game, the return of campaign, and wording that “A lot is changing this year and for the better for CoD.”

One bullet point that really sparked conversation though was that LongSensation states the reveal for the game will occur the following Wednesday, which is tomorrow. But unlike the content creator getting confirmation when dropping the title’s name, the same however did not happen for the official reveal.

Suddenly this afternoon, the Call of Duty official Twitter posted a short, 20 second long video teasing that the reveal will take place in less than a day from the tweet being made. Which on top of the hype also lines up with the YouTuber’s initially suggested tweet.

The teaser has a caption reading “Going Dark,” and displays several images distorted from the wavelength design unique to the Modern Warfare franchise. It also shares that the reveal will be taking place on May 30th at 10:00 AM PST (1:00 PM EST).

All in all, this seems to be a very exciting time as Call of Duty will be returning to its traditional roots after the year break of futuristic warfare in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Especially as Sledgehammer Games will not be involved in the series’ development cycle, this will ensure more classic CoD will be coming as Black Ops 5 was seemingly confirmed in the same incident.
