It might have already been that long ago, so let me help jog your memory: the release of Metro Exodus was initially a very controversial time for the series alongside developer 4A Games. Why so? Well, at the time it was discovered that the game would only be launching on the then-newly founded Epic Games Store which angered many fans who owned the previous entries on grandfathered platforms for PC.

However, THQ Nordic who owns the publishing rights for Deep Silver’s properties has shown acknowledgement of the complaints. Amid the spiel that kept getting louder last year, the Austrian firm did suggest returning the third installment of Metro to Steam at a later date. Assuming if that were to happen, it would be after the settled exclusivity with Epic Games would end.

Now it looks that the time is upon us, next week in fact. On the game’s official twitter account, it was revealed that the game will arrive next Saturday to Steam.

Hopefully this is the start of a pattern for exclusively launched titles on the storefront as many fans have been vocal to wait out until the respected title releases on their preferred platform. Now with Metro Exodus out of the way, this leaves other big budget projects like The Division 2 and even Borderlands 3 to do the same in the coming future later on.

Interesting enough, we have already witnessed a pseudo-loophole for these projects as all three mentioned games are already available to ply on Google Stadia. Although this does not truly define as PC, the peripheral is there which does give the implication that the games would eventually release for other services like Steam and GoG.

Do you already own Metro Exodus or plan on picking it up on Steam?

Metro Exodus is settled to arrive to Steam on February 15, 2020; out now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC via Epic Games Store & Google Stadia.
