While Microsoft has continued to support first-party projects releasing on PC via Windows 10 throughout the course of this console generation, the firm has more recently been approaching with an open hand to Valve’s Steam by introducing new projects to the storefront. We have seen this already with State of Decay 2 alongside the upcoming full anthology of Halo: The Master Chief Collection later on, and now the same is set for Rare’s latest property.
Last month, Microsoft disclosed that Sea of Thieves will be setting sail for Steam later on in 2020, but failed to mention when fans can anticipate the game to arrive to the platform. Now in a new trailer, Rare reveals the official release date is scheduled for the first week of June. You can watch the new trailer in the video below:
“For over two years the members of our community have been sailing freely into fantastical adventure with Xbox Game Pass and on Xbox One and Windows 10, but as we go full steam ahead we look forward to onboarding a whole new community of PC players,” Rare Executive Producer Joe Neate tells in a recent Xbox Wire blog post. It is revealed that Sea of Thieves will ship for $39.99 when the title officially releases next month.
Previously, Rare disclosed that Sea of Thieves when approaching land for Steam will offer three-way cross-platform play support between Xbox One, Windows 10, and now Steam. Seeing the impressive presence that Sea of Thieves still manages to maintain on Twitch as of recently, it is suspected that could receive an increase of activity when the title finally arrives in the coming weeks.
Announced during a previous Inside Xbox earlier in 2020, Sea of Thieves has received a new update which revitalizes some aspects of the base game. Such being the reworking of finding treasure and the additions of cats for the title. You can read the full rundown by heading here.
