Yesterday, Nintendo shared that it would be hosting its titular Treehouse Live showcase this afternoon and feature some new content for the soon to be arriving Paper Mario: The Origami King. Alongside the anticipated new entry for the series, Nintendo also poked at a separate announcement that will be taking place during the same presentation regarding a new, undisclosed project from Shantae developer WayForward.

Certainly, it would be exciting to see what is next from the studio. Fans shortly after the announcement was made encouraged the idea that Nintendo entrusted the developer with a first-party property to be shown. But before that could even make waves, Nintendo released a follow-up statement disclosing that the game is a “third-party property.”

And now with the livestream coming and going, Nintendo has revealed that the new project is Bakugan: Champions of Vestroia. You can watch the reveal trailer in the video below:

On Nintendo’s website, the game’s page shares more context regarding the story and how gameplay will operate for the full game. “Bakugan: Champions of Vestroia is an all-new action role-playing game with an original story that expands on the hit TV series and brings the Bakugan universe to the Nintendo Switch for the very first time.

“The adventure takes players on the ultimate Bakugan journey as they befriend powerful creatures known as Bakugan, gear up and customize Bakugan teams for fiercely strategic battles, and master their skills to become the Champion of Vestroia. Players can also play online in head-to-head multiplayer.” Structured by how the title is posed, the project comes off to be the same degree as January-released Dragon Ball: Kakarot.

Despite the anticipation leading to the announcement, some fans illustrate some upsetting responses to the game’s reveal. This bears to be a similar set of events as Nintendo just last month performed the same way with the announcement for Pokémon Unite. Trailer for both titles currently sit with dislikes overtaking likes respectively.

What is your thoughts on WayForward’s new project?

Bakugan: Champions of Vestroia is coming to Nintendo Switch on November 3, 2020.
