It was back in April that the development team responsible for Amazon Game Studios’ New World spared that the coming MMO RPG would face a slight delay – pushing the game from later spring to late summer. While the wait itself was not too long – only extending it by a few months, it was understandable for the reasoning due to the work-from-home efforts implemented by the studio.
But now as summer is close to the halfway mark, the team has returned to share some disappointing news. While the developer has been collecting both good and bad feedback from those sampling the alpha build for New World, the team has realized that there is still plenty that is currently unfinished and have decided to push the game to spring next year.
We will be changing our launch date – and correspondingly, our final beta test – to spring 2021. We don’t make the decision lightly, and we have urgency about getting the game to you as quickly as possible at the best quality — with some additions that will make the experience even better.
Richard Lawrence, New World Studio Director
In the new blog post, the team elaborates more on the decision due to the fact that there is a full feature list made with other additions that will be implemented into the full game. Even more, the studio aims to also work on an extensive cast of end game content for dedicated players who plan on making themselves home in Aeternum. “We want our players to feel completely immersed in the game, and know that our studio stands for quality and lasting gameplay you can trust.”
Despite the upsetting news for anticipated fans that have been awaiting for the game’s launch later next month, the developer concludes that it will be allowing current testers and pre-order holders to play the game later this summer. On August 25, the initially slated release date for New World, users eligible will be able to gain access to the current build of the game to compensate for their extended wait.
This announcement also happens to follow behind another delay going on at Amazon. Well, the game has retracted its release: Relentless Games after receiving criticism for Crucible has pulled the game and is now back in closed beta until further notice. You can read the full report by heading here.
Do you plan on waiting it out for the spring release for New World?
