The influence of Netflix shows are nothing to brush off. We’ve seen it with Cyberpunk 2077 as well as The Witcher. Most, recently, this has become an example for Devil May Cry. The Adi Shakar show aired earlier this spring and was a massive push for more engagement for the franchise. Capcom reported roughly 3 million sales for the IP was made since the airing of the Netflix series.
And, Ubisoft is certainly looking to explore this as well. It already has with shows like Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix before. But, it also recently greenlit the upcoming live-action Assassin’s Creed show with Netflix as well. Ubisoft & Netflix also teased Splinter Cell: Deathwatch. The animated series is part of a new partnership with John Wick writer Derek Kolstad.
Ubisoft has recently announced that Splinter Cell: Deathwatch is set to release on Netflix later this October. You can watch the new trailer in the video below:
“In this first-ever adaptation of the acclaimed stealth video game franchise Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell, legendary agent Sam Fisher is drawn back into the field when a wounded young operative seeks his help.” Ubisoft elaborates on the new trailer: “He’s visibly older, but as stealthy and dangerous as ever. While it’s still unclear to viewers what his mission is, Sam says that it’s personal.”
The publisher also writes: “Joining [Liev] Schreiber in the cast is Kirby Howell-Baptiste (Barry, The Good Place). Splinter Cell: Deathwatch is produced by Ubisoft, in partnership with animation studios Sun Creature and Fost. Derek Kolstad (John Wick) is the series’ head writer and executive producer, with Guillame Dousse and Félicien Colmet-Daage directing. Ubisoft Film & Television’s Helene Juguet, Hugo Revon, and Gérard Guillemot also served as executive producers.”
