Backyard Sports video game franchise is making a return

Backyard Sports is coming back as Playground Productions has announced the relaunch of the iconic video game franchise. The popular series will also expand into television, film, merch, and more while Playground promises fans the games will return bigger and better than ever before.

Backyard Sports was introduced in 1997 with Backyard Baseball developed by Humongous Entertainment and published by Atari. The series would grow to support other sports such as Backyard Basketball, Backyard Football, Backyard Soccer, Backyard Skateboarding, and Backyard Hockey

The last game to be released in the series was in 2015 with Backyard Sports: Baseball 2015 for Android and iOS mobile devices.

“We’re taking great care to preserve the look and feel that made the original games so special while updating them with modern features and gameplay that today’s audience expects. I can’t wait for fans to see what we’re building on the Playground,” said Chief Product Officer Chris Waters at Playground Productions

Pablo Sanchez and the crew at Backyard Sports will finally be coming back after it has been highly requested by fans of the series including Jason Kelce.
